HISTORY
In March of 2020, I was terrified. We ALL were terrified. Living alone in NYC (Queens to be exact), I didn't even leave my apartment except to take out the trash. That is, until a loud crash in the middle of the night made me wonder if I actually was safer inside.
Pillow Talk explores what happens when a single gal named Lauren contemplates this very decision... with the help of her overly protective Jewish mother aka "Ma". Together they stay awake discussing life, love and things that go bump in the night! At the core, it's a story about connection, which is something that has come to mean even more during this uncertain time in human history.
I was thrilled to be able to bring this short film to life with the help of an amazing production team led by my director, Nate Smith, my pre-production assistant and editor, Giulia Aguiar and my producer/casting director Tessa Faye of Tessa Faye Talent, LLC. Shooting took place over one day at the end of August, just in time to make the Sundance final submission deadline!
And it was just as thrilling to be able to work with the amazingly gifted Karen Lynn Gorney. As a kid, I remember watching Karen dance her little heart out on the screen with John Travolta in "Saturday Night Fever". So now... to be able to share the screen with her as my "Ma" is something I will always cherish.
"Pillow Talk" will be making its debut this March at the 20th Garden State Film Festival, in Asbury Park, NJ. If you're in town, stop by and say hello!
